About Denise
Denise Fraga is an accomplished vocalist in multiple styles and has been performing professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area for two decades.
The intimacy of her voice and guitar jazz duo allows the nuances of her voice to cast their spell on her audiences. Known for her graceful style, her unique and haunting timbre lulls the listener into deep reverie and yet spices up the mood when she delves into her Latin repertoire. Through Bossa Novas spring a deep sensuality. Boleros unleash an urgent passion. Her sound radiates a knowing of the heart and every phrase honors her eclectic interests as well as her musical propensity for the classic melodic line as did her favorite jazz singers, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. |
Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Denise was raised in a musical family and exposed to a wide breadth of styles. Through her father she attained a love of classical music. Through her mother she attained a love of swing era jazz. Through both parents she attained a love of lively and passionate Latin music that touched on her Mexican heritage. And through her two older brothers she attained a love of blues, rock and pop.
As a youth her apparent musical talents were nurtured in piano, guitar and voice lessons. While honing her voice and musicianship during her studies of operatic vocal performance at San Francisco State University, she began gravitating towards Nationalistic music; classical music based on folk songs and idioms. Denise idealizes The Beatles, Ella Fitzgerald, Linda Rondstat, Rene Flemming, among many others and draws from the wealth of her performance experience in musical theater, opera, R 'n' B, folk, rock and jazz to exude piercing human emotions.
